Hi. I would like to know your opinion.
We have some cleaning chemicals around the site. 3 acids and 1 alkali, all corrosives. We manufacture natural colorants for food and drink hence food safety compliance as well as H&S..
4 cleaning chemicals are decanted into color coded spray bottles, instructions displayed in pace of storage, staff trained, work instruction displayed. I am being told that a lot of labels come off or being washed off by chemical hence foreign body contamination risk..
I assume we could purchase the suitable labels however being told current control is sufficient and suitable.. What do you think

Why not a plastic coloured tag attached round the neck of the bottle? If correctly attached this could not wash off and could be reused when bottle replaced (or kept if bottle refilled). Many years the plant where I was employed had such a system and it seemed to work well.

If the label is not surviving real world use then it is neither suitable nor sufficient. Colour coding is only suitable for a proportion of the population, and then only for those whom you train.
Look at the ECHA web site for EC 1272/2008 The Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulations - what the manufacturer applies to their packaging should ideally appear on decanted containers (if only the H&S info)
