Hi,
During all the heavy winds we have had recently we have had a few cases of cladding and sign wind damage. Does anyone here know of any requirements for statutory inspections of a pylon sign similar to what you would see at a petrol station or retail park? Or for inspection of cladding or shop signs on a retail unit? All of the info i found points to ACM cladding and fire safety. Not really relevant to what i'm looking for.

Ah I think under any prosecution, should a sign fall off or been blown off or whatever, the HSE would simply prosecute the company under the very basic (but with teeth) General Duty of Care, section 2, HASAWA1974. Is it likely? So, inspect. It's really that simple. So the next time a team visits a pylon, perhaps the daily RAMS should have a proviso to do a quick check whilst normal work is being done, doesn't have to be onerous. Keep it simple.
