Good evening I have abit of a grey area question with regards to texting lifting slings.
A Birth Cert (EC Certificate and Decloration of Conformity -DoC) can be used to cover the first period of Record of Thorough Examination (as required under LOLER 1998). At what point does the EC Cert and DoC cease covering the textile Sling (Lifting Accessory) as a Record of thorough examination. For example :-
(a) is it only from the date of manufacture until 6 months later? or
(b) is it from the date of first use until 6 months later?
(c) if (b) is true how do you prove the date of first use?
Regards

Great practical and operational observation. I think your second part of the post refers to how we identify date of manufacture. Having made some checks, everything talks about webbing's DoC' MADE date and it not being for more than 12months from date made (Including INDG422). So, as I see it, if we had a bit of kit made when we brought it and use immediately then it's covered, but if it was stored in a locker for 13 months then it would need a thorough inspection before 1st use.
The time the supplier has them sitting on shelves would, eat into that DoC time as well. Edited by user 17 June 2020 06:40:40(UTC)
