What are you trying to achieve.   Is ICAM an analysis tool to find causes, something similar to root cause analysis?

Hi there

Yes ICAM is a Incident Cause Analysis Method widely used here in OZ but i get the feeling there may be a UK equivalent,  a diffrent approch.

Thanks again for the input

Whilst you’re correct that ICAM isn’t commonly used in Europe (by comparison to SE Asia & Australia) it is only a methodical approach like many others. If you’re proficient in gathering evidence, organising that evidence to establish a breadth of possible factors and able to draw rational conclusions, and at the end assign proportionate actions... you’d possibly be paying a fair bit of money to either repeat what you already know with a new format or worse to be driven by a proprietary product with all sorts of outlandish “silver bullet” claims. Using a “Why Tree” would be amongst the most common and you shouldn’t need a full course for that if already used to ICAM. If you want to pm me I can send you an example that I use.

Thanks to everyone and their great feed back on this issue, clearly like here in OZ/NZ its a gray area with an array of diffrent approchs to the same end.

Ray - if this is to enable you to be more marketable to the Uk then great but from my oiunt of vewi having hired a few over the years...it is the depth of your investigative experience that will get the role not necessarily the tehcnique
