Hello- my HR director has asked me to put something together to send to all staff who work within our company to capture people travelling to other countries on their annual leave. Something along the lines to be alongside their leave request form that asks whether you will be travelling out of the UK and where would you be going on your annual leave. Have any of you been asked to do this? and if so, do you have a rough guideline of how you worded it?

You need a new job with someone who is not an abusive control freak ala Howard Hughes in his later years.

1) What purpose would this data collection serve?

2) How will this personal data be used?

3) How long will it be retained for?

4) Who would have access?

There is no need to "intrude" in to employees private life.

Is it their intention to tell people where they can or cannot travel based upon their assimilation of information?

Pretty sure travel insurance does not cover "cancellation due to director whim".

Why limit it to "other countries" we are seeing local in country "hot spots" of infection, terror and anti-social behaviours.

The key point to include when writing this is the answers to Roundtuit's pertinent questions.

You need to explain why you want the information and what will be done with it.

Look at it from the point of view of an employee reading this.  They will be concerned to know what the implications of providing this information are.  For example, is it so the organisation can plan support for them if they need to quarantine on return (a caring employer), or so that they can ban them from the workplace and stop paying them if they need to quarantine on return (the other sort of employer)?

This whole thing has definitely brought out the control freak side of some people.  When I enter my local station, some sort of rail employee challenged me. I had no idea who he worked for or who he was. The conversation went along the lines of “Where are you going?”, “to catch a train”, ”Why?”, “to go to work”, “Where’s that?”, ”None of your ****ing business”

Another day ruined by some pillock!

I suspect it’s because they no longer feel in control of the situation a Boris is calling all of the shots. Rather than accepting the absurdity of that statement, they are trying to reassert themselves by interfering, asking stupid questions, and generally exceeding their authority.

You need to adjust the scope of this a wee bit...instead of looking at where they are going on holiday give them a back to work health questionaire in plenty of time for thier return to work....this would apply to everyone and therfore you don't single out anyone...and then sort it out from there...  :)
