This shows how difficult it is to manage and the need to manage staff. It has woken up a number of my senior managers.

Same in all offices, shops and businesses across the land.  Will never stop it.

I think the HSE need to get real frankly

While some of their findings point to unacceptable systems, not having one-way staircases where they are 2m of less wide is pushing it a bit. The amount of time people take when passing others is seconds and with lifts reduced to often to under 4 persons - or even to 1 person, there needs to be some pragmatism shown here.

Perhaps a policy of no stopping in order to prevent chatting and informal meetings may be sensible, but insisting on one-way staircases may not be viable in all circumstances

Messy is right - you have to work with the building you have - it may not be possible to designate stairways as one way and people will always want to talk to each other at close (ish) quarters rather than shouting across a gap especially when they may be needing to discuss sensitive issues relating to members of the public.  Covid is a dreadful thing but you can't throw everything out the window because of it.

I think that if DWP were to challenge the bill, HSE might have to back down.

But, of course we only read what has been published which might not be the full picture.
