Hi We are just about to update our general H&S Policy. I am interested to understand what concensus there is in respect to including Covid-19 procedures in the general policy or keeping a separate policy for the pandemic. Thanks Richard

We do not include it, as we perceive it (hopefully) as a temporary situation that is not relevant to the day to day long term plans for the company. I would hope that our policy already covers it with various other clauses, such as "adapting to new risks as they arise" and "complying with all applicable legislation" (paraphrased)

In saying that, I can't see any reason not to include it should you want to.

We haven't changed our management system, what we have done is set up a seperate COVID19 policy document, a risk assessment which deals specifically with the hazards and risks associated virus and we have created a business continunity plan detailing with the issues and problems we have come across and how we have dealt with them as we pull through the pandemic.  We also have regular review meetings via zoom which are attended by the MD, senior managers, depot managers etc.  In all it has worked well for us. We have managed to continue operating and doing business and everyone has been back at work since August.

We haven't changed the management system, but have created some parallel documents (in our case a country-wide RA that covers all the offices in the UK and an office-specific working arrangements document for each office in the UK and some of our non-UK offices, and a couple of forms for logging some specific matters).

We have some offices in countries that have adopted very prescriptive statutory regimes, these don't have working arrangements documents where all they would say is 'do what the government tells us'.

Thank you all that have replied.  There appears to be general consensus in line with my own views.

Thank you!

Thanks for the valuable details. [That is quite what many country does, even though they will tell to follow the World Health Organization directives including local public health ministry. I believe i was bale to learn the handling of such scenario in the future]
