I'm looking for views and insights from anyone who has set up the Govt lateral-flow unit within their workplace(s) to test their workforce. Happy if you want to DM me if you want to keep this out of the open forum.

We have started. It was all a bit of a shambles to begin with, but it is progressing ok.

The tests turned up 10 days late, with 25% more test than we ordered. The guidance material offered has little relevance to a business of our size (80 employees) as it seems to assume we have several spare rooms available and 10's of staff to help with the procedure. The main issues I am running into are twofold.

  1. We have an aging workforce in our factory, and a significant number cannot use a smart phone well enough to register, and have no email address. I am offering these people "off the record" tests, which I put my own email address for. Basically I run the test and give them the results verbally.
  2. There is a mistrust of the testing in regards to it's aim. Younger people feel it is going to lead to them being falsley told to isolate, therefore they are unwilling to take the test. We don't force anyone to be tested.

So basically either they are too old to register properly, or too young and don't trust the scheme. Those in the middle are taking to it very well though. Whilst they understand the limitations of the test, and continue to follow distancing guidelines (at work anyway), it still gives them a positive boost to their mental health. People like to see things being done.

Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions
