Hi everyone, just wondering whether there's any guidance on the storage of chemicals (in this case flammable liquids) outdoors? I appreciate that it would need to be bunded but does the container absolutely need to be enclosed? Thanks!

Hi Kate, thanks for your response.
Just seen the below from the HSE doc: 146 The storage area should be in an unenclosed and uncongested location at ground level to ensure that any flammable liquid vapours arising from leaks or spillages do not accumulate and can rapidly disperse to safe levels.

probably stateing the obviouse - but it depends on your definition of enclosed. I would certaily expect it to be in a cage or seurity fence not just stacked in a corner - but i agree not a fully enclosed cabinate or similar.

Yes, I agree it might well benefit from being fenced off or caged.
