Hi All, I was hoping to get some insight into the process of achieving CMIOSH status through IPD as a professional auditor. I work for a well know certification body and was wondering if you good people think that auditing evidence is sufficient for the criteria required.
For example for competency relating to strategy, if i audit a customers strategyu and context of the organisation, would this suffice? worried that the evidence will be quite linear and not necesarily dynamic as it would be in a practitioner role.

James - Q might be more easily answered if you posted on the Members' Forums. But, without commenting on the IOSH process for getting to CMIOSH, I suppose the Q is whether looking at someone else's strategy is "doing" strategy - might depend on how you benchmark someone else's strategy. If you are say auditing against an ISO standard, you might not be in a position to influence someone else's strategy but rather check whether that strategy has been turned into procedures and whether the auditee is following those procedures. Compliance with an ISO standard such as 45001 is NOT in itself a good indicator of legal compliance.
