Could anyone tell me what control measures should be put in place for two or three portable 2700W petrol generators stored in a warehouse? The warehouse also has offices within it. Would a DSEAR risk assessment be necessary?

Hi Franki - the simple answer is YES but nothing in DSEAR says that your risk assessment has to be called a "DSEAR assessment". So, you have to look at the risks posed by storing these generators when full of petrol or notionally empty. Lots of guidance on the HSE website. That will take you to considering the total potential fuel storage per generator and as a sum. Then you need to consider issues such as what happens when there is a leak and whether a fire involving one generator is liable to result in the others being impacted + then you need to think about the risks to people and probably any special requirements of your insurers.

Good points made already by Peter, I will add a question about storing petrol in cans as reserve. You should perhaps have a Petrol Store which will be licensed.
I would also consider how your generators are located with seperation between them and maybe create a bund around the generators.
Further you should have an emergency procedure and kit for dealing with leakages.
