I recently had a sales person on selling covid-19 kits saying that the government & NHS was to stop free supply of said kits. Is this true, have I missed something? Personally I beleive its a ploy to get me to buy their product, so I'm seeking facts/ truth in the matter please.

It is very easy now for private households to get their own test kits. Of course, I would never condone using these kits in a small work place, even if the kits have 7 tests in them, per household member and are available for free at most pharmacys.....

To be honest I thought this was the case for a while. The 'Is this test for work?' on the LFT test results webpage was only ever intentioned to see how many employers are using the free comunity test kits for work purposes. I'm sure there has been a couple of reports in the daily Covid .gov email service about it.

Interesting. I'm a steward at a football league club and have this morning been told to take a lateral flow test before attending for work on Saturday. My employment is 'Casual' but does this mean the employer should arrange the tests or am I expected to pick up my own from a local pharmacy.

It is down to employees to get their own tests unless employers happen to have some. Employers are not responsible for providing tests. When you register the result, you are asked the reason for the test, and the answer options include going to work (including voluntary work). If you answer that it is for work, you are also asked whether or not your employer provided it. (Or that's how it was last week when I last did a test for work.)

LFD tests (or LFT) are still available free of charge if arranged by the employee directly via their local pharmacy. Each individual ideally has to get a collect code from gov.com, (super simple to get, its just like logging in to supply your results) they then supply this collect code to the pharmancy and then they will recieve a max of 2 boxes (which include 7 tests per box) You can collect without a collection code (anonymously) however this reduces the tracking content incase of a recall. Workplace testing has finished and will not be paid for anymore.

No lateral flow test kits available at the Govt site yesterday which directed me to my local pharmacy, which had notices at each of its entrances today advising that none are available. Lots of panic collection going on perhaps. We have two left! P

We are an educational establishment and we have been doing LFT on site and we have been giving out test kits for home use to staff and students. The dept of health had has been providing support for the testing by supplying us with kits and running the track and trace element. This support stops at the end of the year. We assumed that we could keep dishing out kits until we ran out of stock but we have been told that unless we take over the testing support(which will cost us money) we should return the unused kits. It looks like the Treasury has spoken: they have been trying to close this down for months, because now that everybody is vaccinated and the vaccine protects everybody from Covid-19 we don’t need to do testing anymore except of course it looks like we do but the bean counters will get their way anyway.

I'm still able to order LFT kits for work.
Signed up to the Workplace Testing Program with Public Health Wales, which lets me order 224 kits, (7 tests per kit), at a time for our workforce of 50. Ordering every other month. Placed an order today for more. Believe the program is closed to new applicants, so only available if you signed up when it was launched. Had to attend several online working groups and make a commitment to running an in-house testing program in order to be accepted and order the kits.
