Does anyone know if these items should be inspected annually by our insurers under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations in the same way our passenger lifts are under LOLER.Any help appreciated.

What do you mean by a steamer? If it is just a bain-marie which keeps things hot, and its internal pressure does not exceed atmospheric pressure then it is not a pressure vessel. If it is more like a pressure cooker and contain steam under pressure then it needs its statutory testing.

Thank you for your reply.It generates steam in a contained stainless steel vessel from boiling water [about a meter cubed] and is used for cooking food.It also has a pressure release valve at the back of it.A large pressure cooker would be a good description as you said.

There's a useful decision tree on p9 of the ACOP. If it's got steam under pressure though the regs will always apply.
