Happy New Year,

I am looking to write safe systems of work for our growing construction business. we typically work completing redecoration and refurbishment within residential properties. I am looking to get hold of off the shelf SSOW for tasks such as plastering, decorating, fitting kitchens etc. which i can then ammend/approve as fit for our business.

Does anyone know where i can find these or have followed this approach before?

Thanks

Easiest way to write a task based SSOW:

  • Speak to the people who do the job (or shadow them) and list out start to finish how the job is done
  • At each stage identify what tools are used, hazards and what controls are required (refer to the risk assessment to make sure it lines up)
  • Once written get the people who do the job to read it and see if it makes sense, correct etc
  • Job done
