Hi , Looking for actual latest AIR / AFR and AAIR rates for the construction industry, having scanned the net we are finding different figures. is their a definiative source for the latest numbers ? I have seen AFR of 12.7 and AIR of 2450, cannot find any AAIR detail (or maybe the AAIR is 2450 and cant find the AIR) ,, also finding AFRs of 2.9 and AIR's of 330 for construction ? quite a difference Any help appreciated Thanks

Hi Simon - these metrics are calculated using different methods that are not easily comparable as the input parameters are not the same. You will find national statistics for one or the other, but rarely both. Similarly you might find national or regional statistics for one or the other in a subsection of the construction industry. Even if you try to use either it is very difficult to assess performance against some broad indicator. As example some Main Contractors will do lots of stuff at the sharp end themselves, whereas others do their utmost to contract out all the higher risk tasks (and may not keep records of supply chain accidents and accident rates) P

There's loads of HSE statistics at https://www.hse.gov.uk/statistics/tables/index.htm
If you want to compare injury rates the closest to definitive is probably the labour force survey - https://www.hse.gov.uk/s...s/lfs/index.htm#injuries and if you want to compare your figures with others in similar industries https://www.hse.gov.uk/s...stics/lfs/lfsinjind.xlsx
Construction is section F so set the filter on column F to be 'F' and set the filter on column 'E' to be 'Select All' and then decide which row gives you the closest match to yourself.
There are tables for all injuries, 3-day, and 7-day (all excluding fatals). Note they are three-year averages.
