Does your company pay an extra suppliment for those certified to be first aiders in your work place? If your company does suppliment, how much per month/ year? Is this a percentage of wage or a standard amount? We are reviewing our offering and would appricate to know what other companies do. Thank you in advance

Various companies - pennies on hourly rate through to annual lump sum at the end of each financial year they were qualified throughout (drop outs getting a pro-rata payment for a part year). Nothing as grand as £5/week though.

Some places I worked gave 1 days extra annual leave, rising to 2 after 5 years.

We do not give any financial incentive to our fist aiders. Would a potentially life saving skill that can benefit the workplace and wider community including those with kids, older relatives, those who volunteer etc, as well as themselves not be incentive enough? In my opinion it should be about doing the right thing and stepping up to take responsibility. If you only get takers that are interested due to a finacial incentive, how seriously will they take the training and if needed how competent would their ability to apply said training actually be?

Sometimes you have to offer the financial incentive to be compliant with the regulations from the available workforce even if all they do is give out plasters and phone for an ambulance.
Other times you make the managers / supervisors First Aiders just to have the numbers even though they should be co-ordinating rather than handling any incident.

Fair point Roundtuit but then it boils down to workplace culture so maybe a bigger fish needs frying. I guess I am lucky where I work, although improvements can still be made, the culture is on the right track.

We don't pay anything. Even following our recent doubling the number to cover new flexible / hybrid working patterns we have more volunteers than we need.
