taken from government road map.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1056229/COVID-19_Response_-_Living_with_COVID-19.pdf

From 1 April, the Government will remove the health and safety requirement for every employer to explicitly consider COVID-19 in their risk assessments.

The intention is to empower businesses to take responsibility for implementing mitigations that are appropriate for their circumstances. Employers that specifically work with COVID-19, such as laboratories, must continue to undertake a risk assessment that considers COVID-19.

61. From 1 April, the Government will replace the existing set of ‘Working Safely’

guidance with new public health guidance.

Employers should continue to consider the needs of employees at greater risk from COVID-19, including those whose immune system means they are at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19. The Government will consult with employers and businesses to ensure guidance continues to support them to manage the risk of COVID-19 in workplaces.

I await teh guidance with interest.

Well the Government “will remove the health and safety requirement for every employer to explicitly consider COVID-19-.” So it was all a bad dream then. If you look at the list of legislation that is being repealed this is not mentioned there because it was not a legal requirement, I don’t think it even makes the grade as part of an ACoP, just wishful thinking by HMG. But it has gone now, and we are glad to see the back of it.

By the time anything meaningful arrives from the consultation bosses in the ilk of Charlie Mullins will have potential / ex-employees queued around the tribunal whilst MP's argue over definitions in the Equality Act.

We have already seen English care work decimated by ill conceived legislation which even the government chose not to impose upon the English Health Service.

Meanwhile the HSE seems to be following a slightly different script:

Thanks, Roundtuit for that link.

May be there are too many HQ HSE staff who were "levelled up" long ago and are thence not in some Whitehall bubble.

I do think that it is a little unfortunate that HSE didn't choose to either disassociate itself entirely from Northern Ireland or point readers to where they should look for up to date NI guidance.

My guess is that there are a lot of organisations who think that the whole of HSWA and subsidiary legislation applies in NI and that the primary enforcing authority throughout the UK is HSE.
