Do fire routes leading direct to fire exits need to be compartmentalized part of the Scottish Fire Regulations or Building Regulations? If so do they need to be done retrospectively?

The technical handbook mandatory standard 2.1 talks about compartmentation holding any fire or smoke within the compartment so as to give time for evacuation.

It does not specify the escape route as being a compartment in its own right.

Building Regulations are not retrospective for constructed property but would apply for refurbishment including change of use.

Just to be clear, my answer was about "Scottish fire regulations" and did not relate to the mention of "Building Regulations" which the original post was subsequently edited to refer to,
