Hi all,

I know this may have been asked before but I thought a renewed discussion may present some new ideas.

I'm looking for suggestions or experiences with delivering activity based training. We find that we deliver a lot of classroom based training which sometimes promotes "dealth by PowerPoint", however I'm lookin for way we can make training a little more interacitve and light-hearted.

Has anyone used any fun and effectives methods for training. Primariliy I'm looking for ideas around promoting safety / situational awareness, hazard identification etc. however, any sugestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

Hi Chris

When I started with my last employer, I discovered that one of our civil engineers had a hobby as a cartoonist.

He did lots of hazard spotting exercises for me, all with the intials RJL.

Some of the hazards were immediately obvious and got the delegates laughing, others made them think a it more.

All about breaking up you talking at them, and getting them thinking in case study groups.

I devised a case study on the expansion of the Tutti Frutti* Ice Cream factory - took my delegates completely out of their comfort zone - it was not the sort of project we would do - and gave delegates from different disciplines the chance to shine.

*Some older readers will remember the TV series that inspired the title of the case study!
