Hi all, I'm wondering if someone can advise please. A few days ago we had an incident where a car lost control on a main road, crashed through our fencing and hit the side of our building, damaging the building itself and destroying a smoking shelter. No one was injured (thankfully) and this was reported to the police. However, I am now confused whether it is RIDDOR reportable or not (as I understand that if it's on private land and someone is injured, this should be reportable or if on a public road, it's reportable to the police. However, no on was injured but was still on private land, so now I'm not sure).

Can anyone clarify?

Thanks.

Not reportable because nobody was injured and the accident happened (ie the driver lost control of the vehicle) on the public highway and not as  a result of  any work related activities on your site or due to your work activities on your site.

RIDDOR only requires the prescribed kinds of injuries, dangerous occurrences and occupational diseases to be reported and this isn't any of those.

If you tried to make a RIDDOR report, you wouldn't be able to as you wouldn't be able to tick any of the boxes to say which type of event it was.
