Ww are a small construction companuy with a variety of mobile plant .. Telelhandler, Dumper Truck, Tyred Digger. Manitou
Does a 'refrence table' exist that outline the legal requirements to take these vehicle on the public highway that shows licence, tax, insurane , MOT Any comments welcome

Hi Bob Your post has been read 100 times with no response, so I will have a go! If you network with others working for contractors I imagine that somebody would have such a checklist. But, in essence if the plant is driven on the public highway it needs all the paperwork unless it falls into some exempted class under Road Traffic legislation. What constitutes the "public highway" in the UK is the subject of very extensive case law - not just roads adopted by the Trunk or local roads authority. P

I think a current phrase these days is, 'Public Access Areas',
ie - if there is a public access in the area where the plant goes, it needs to 'comply'
As well as with any specific Highways works regulations
Other than a simple straight crossing the road from one yard to another, or travelling a very short distance on the road, as Peter says, it needs everything, and (probably), the driver has to to have a valid driving licence as well, (not just the Plant Ticket, CPCS etc).
We just had a guy who had to stop driving plant along the road outside our site cos he had too many points on his licence for our insurers

Makes you question the "excessive hardship" decisions magistrates apply under totting up rules. Even if permitted to keep their licence are they still actually road legal as in being covered by insurance?
