Hi All,
I'm looking for some advice. Other than having the usual manager discretionary measures in place to cope with extreme temperatures on the factory floor (fans, extra breaks, providing water bottles etc). Does anyone have any formal procedures / policies they can share or any other info in which you control the risk from extreme temperatures ?

Hi Previously in a Factory role we:- Amended hours to start earlier when it was cooler, relax a dress code where is was possible, carry out particular work that meant you were hotter at a different time, or in a sheltered area. We would increase breaks for those who worked outside & supplied ice lollies. We had one Friday it was particularly hot, the boss kindly let us finish earlier. Job rotation maybe, ensure aircon in vehicles is working properly.

Hi,
Looking for some advice - we are hosting an event at a facility in London where people need to make a journey to it - several are from around teh country and more based in London. With this being inside my gut is telling me the actual wevent will be fine provided that the temperature is controlled the dress code is relaxed and refreshemtns and regular breaks are considered. My concern is more along the lines of teh people travelling in via train/tube and other means. If this was a winter RED weather warnign i feel people may react differently but because its Summer people are saying hat it should be fine.

Hi all I carry out site based behavioural exchanges with management and recently we carried out a review of our risk assessment for the forecasted high temperatures, we used the HSE guidance INDG 451 you may find this document useful as we did in planning and guiding us to agree and enable a suitable RA to be developed. Worth a look, following our review it was refreshing to witness sensible adjustments being made and not just take extra water on board. Edited by user 12 August 2022 13:59:22(UTC)
