Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me.

A client processes and stores calcium carbide. Will they need a DSEAR risk assessment?

After searching online, I haven't found anything that convinces me either way.

Thanks,

Pete

Classification H260 "In contact with water releases falmmable gasses that may ignite spontaneously"

Seveso III (Other Hazards - Water react., Cat 1 qualifying quantity lower 100MT upper 500MT)

Based on the above I would suggest

indg370 https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg370.pdf

L138 https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/l138.pdf

Should form part of your decision making process
