We know there are regs regarding the securing of a load, eg pallets of finished goods, onto a haulier's trailer for despatch to customers off site on public roads, but are there any specific regs regarding the movement of the same on site between a production facility and a warehouse.

Should stretchwrapped pallets of goods need to be strapped (eg ratchet strapped) to the trailer in the same way that they would be when travelling on a public road, when covering the relatively short distance from a production or manufacturing facility to the finished goods warehouse?

There are three controls that can be in place: a) closing and securing the trailer curtains, b) a much lower speed limit (5 or 10 mph) and c) short travel distance

Is there any specific guidance for this? I appreciate that flat bed trailers will need additional security such as straps netting etc, but short, slow travel on secure curtained trailers?

Down to risk assessment unfortunately - is the route flat or are inclines to be traversed, exposed to the weather or indoors?

Having worked in the paper industry moving reels internally within the mill involved securing the load in exactly the same manner as if it were to be on the public highway which caame from bitter experience when a load of paper reels bounced the rear doors open due to the tractor unit kangarooing for grip on an icy incline.
