Good morning everyone We recently had an incident where an LPG FLT caught fire, we identified the immediate cause of this as a build up of gasin the engine bay which was ignited when a bare wire shorted out creating sparks, thankfully noone was injured. Further investigation has identified teh evaporator was installed in the wrong directin causingthe wire to rub against the frame, aditionally the evaporator is clogged up with residue resulting in it not closing correctly which then creates the build up of gas. The build up of debris is believed to be caused by addition particulate contamination in the LPG and our supplier is aware of this but states it is with the standards. Whilst this incident has mutiple causational issues, I was wondering if anyone has experienced simmilar incidents with the evaporators clogging up, FLT's not starting correctly creating gas build up, issues with quality of LPG. I am aware that another business close to us has had a very similar incident where the evaporator was clogged up, although the fire was more serious and they use a differnt LPG supplier and type of FLT. MAny thanks
Stuart

There was a safety alert last year that might have some relevance for you - to do with cold starting the truck - see https://www.goodtogosafety.co.uk/Forklift-Truck-News/LPG-Forklift-Safety-Alert for info and links to the video/UKMHA safety alert.
