Hello Everyone, to put in some context, I have recently moved over to the United States of America and currently hold my Grad IOSH status alongside the older NEBOSH Diploma in national occupational health and safety management.

I have fell short of being able to apply for the 'fast track' for the equivilent body, the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) who are the national body behind OSH.  My key issue at present is that having completed the 450+ hour diploma, they will not accept this in place of a bachelors degree standard here (currently able to achieve this with 125+hours in ANY subject).  it is expecially frustrating that you pay ahead of application submission and they state very clearly on the website that NEBOSH Diploma is recognised (both national and international) as 'a qualifying credential' but fail to mention that this does not meet the standard of educational compliance that they desire - in short as it doesnt hold the word degree, it doesnt count.

I would like to know if anyone else has had similar issues, as this has now cost me nearly $200 to get this far, and still not completed the application process, without the $300+ expense for the exams etc to demonstrate my practice. I simply want to gain the appropriate accolades for here as well as the UK but feel like I cannot be the only person whom has dealt with this in the past?

Even if i had held a CMIOSH as the qualifying credential, my Diploma, and also currently my highest academic accolade, would not be sufficient to gain even an associate safety professional as they do not recognise NEBOSH diploma as a degree qualification- none of this was made clear in either the main application stage or the section regards to the educational framework.

The bit that really bites is that hyperthetically, the bachelors degree could be in literally any subject but then qualify for this next phase but i am loathed to throw another sum of money and time and effort at an unrelated qualification just to satisfy the requirements for this apparently 'prestigious' membership.

*also just so you can have some fun considering this- the CSP exam is a 200 question multiple-choice exam that is online and is allocated 5.5 hours for completion- again feels like a far cry from the six lots of 2.5 hour+ closed book exam questions that was required for the Diploma.

If anyone happens to know any more about this or how to go about the CSP details, please let me know! here is a link to their website and feel free to punish me for not reading the fine print, but also you will see that the key reference i refer to specifically states that the diploma waives the requirement for the ASP and directs towards the CSP in the first instance. but doesnt highlight that this would not account for the education portion of the application.
