Hey, looking for some thoughts here please. Would you consider an over 7 day injury to a driver from driving over a pothole or other road feature a reportable accident?

Hi Stur

If you mean "RIDDOR" reportable then not usually. Regulation 14(3) sets out the exception and the circumstances that bring the incident back INTO scope.

Many organisations (including e.g. RoSPA) have called for RIDDOR to be amended to bring most of the work-related transport accidents that are currently excepted to be brought into scope, partly as we really don't have much of a clue as to exactly what numbers are involved, except that it is a huge number.

That has always been my understanding i.e. out of or in connection with the movement of a vehicle on a road should mean it isnt reportable but i'm now been quizzed why it hasnt been reported

The answer to that quiz is "It hasn't been reported because it is not reportable", for the reason you have identified.
