We have a (shipping) containerised workspace that is deployed to work sites. It is an unusual size - 40ft and circa 17 tonnes. The engineering team want to examine the outer underside of the container and are proposing to lift the container on to oak sleepers to do this. 

I have asked them to provide a method statement and RA for this but have reservations as to whether using sleepers is appropriate. I would have thought there must be a product / system out there to do this but a quick Google hasn't thrown anything up. Anybody out there done something similar or have any advice to give?

Seems to me that want to want here is a simple Temporary Works Design.

The level of detail of which would depend on how critical it is that the supports do not give way.

So, I suggest the starting point is to ask how the inspection of the underside is to be carried out. 

If it's going to be about sending in a remote camera, well if 17 tonnes falls on that, not too serious. If you intend to have PEOPLE crawling around underneath, you need much more assurance!

Have you looked to any of the trade associations for modular products, especially those that hire as it is likely they have to conduct return condition inspections?
