I have recently been informed that in addition to having our fire alarm serviced it is now a statutory requirement to have the system inspected yearly. This inspection is required to be carried out by a different company to the one carrying out the service. I can find nothing to support this claim, can anyone out there help?

I'd like to say I've never heard such nonsense in all my life, but that wouldn't be true :-)
