The reason you can't see gg's other posting is because it is on the Members' Forums.
I am inclined to take both postings at face value, not least since it helps reinforce the point that many have often made on these Forums that most users' needs for management of health and safety data do NOT need the various commercial products that are heavily promoted, but could be met inhouse by some resident techie - if given enough information as to what the user is trying to achieve.
Now usually that techie is probably not in the H&S team; gg appears to be an exception!
gg - I'm with Roundtuit on a need for the data used to help manage H&S to include more "leading indicators" - including those which help predict and prevent or, at least mitigate, the future socio-economic costs of occupational ill health and impacts on the environment.
All too often what is presented to the Board and to the outside World (for whatever purpose) focuses on reactive indicators of accident or near accident (aka near miss or some other term), in your case statistics aligned with US OSHA standards - possibly with an eye to Global Reporting Initiative GRI 403.
However, if we look at the global or British stats, it is clear that the impact of occupational ill health is MUCH greater than that of workplace accidents.
So, at top level, in Great Britain (your profile says you are based in NI, so you have a mini image of GB HSE and associated stats), about 150 fatal accidents to workers each year - which probably means somewhere between 500 and 1000 if one takes in accidents NOT reportable under RIDDOR - most work-related transportation accidents and sectors not covered in GB HSE stats.
But in comparison, 13,000 premature deaths per year resulting from occupational disease.
....or at global level, ILO estimates 2.6m premature work-related deaths per year of which over 2m are from occupational ill health. So the fatal accidents make up only about a quarter of the overall problem.
AND similar disproportion can be expected in terms of lesser severity injuries v ill health.
