Hi

I have a client who is considering purchasing large industrial signs from a company in Italy and they need to know in the design stage should they specify what type of fasteners to ensure it is secure.

I appreciate CDM is for the UK and was devised form the European Directive but I can't find any answers? I have tried contacting Italian suppliers but again heard nothing. I just need a simple answer yes or no.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is not about where it is manufactured but where it is installed.

The design should consider the market of installation and all applicable regulations - the manufactirer may know their sign but do they know what material your client is attaching the sign to? do they know if wind is a factor in the area of installation? rain / snow loading? These are matters a local desgner should be addressing.

They may recommend a "typical" fixing but that will very likely be based upon their experience of their domestic market.

Be careful as whilst HM gov have permitted CE conformity assessment of construction products e.g. fasteners to continue until June 2025 not all products have a relevant harmonised (UKCA - designated) standard.
