Hi everyone, I have been tasked to compose a "Reach Declaration", as a client has askes for one. There doesent seem to be any standard format on the web. The company is an engineering company that uses several substances for each manufacturing process. Do you only put the SVHC in the declaration or is it every substance? Is there a standard or recommended way to present the declaration or is it just a list of all the substances the company uses? Regards Matt

A REACH Declaration (not a regulatory requirement) is sought to assure the customer about the presence of substances in the product they are purchasing and follows a "To Whom it may concern" format. Within the ones I issue we start with the product name and then follow with reference to the Candidate SVHC list, Restriction list and Authorisation list - for most of our product range it is "does not contain any substances present upon..." If you are unfortunate to have listed substances then it is a case of contains "name" CAS No. EC No. at then either a specific percentage weight for weight in the product or merely greater than 0.1% w/w (as this is the communication level for SVHC's). Dates are important as the lists are ever growing. You will find it necessary to differentiate between EU REACH and UK REACH as the regulations diverge. Another item to save effort is to include statement about RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) appendices - substances and exclusions if necessary
