To those of you who have responded to my previous postings, but who have not yet had any final positive or negative response, please bear with me as things are still moving on!!

Babtie Group is a 3000 strong technical and management consultancy with offices throughout the UK and overseas. We advise clients in a wide range of industries including power, transport, utilities, healthcare, education, docks, mines, prisons, defence and waste management. More details at www.babtie.com

We currently employ 27 health and safety advisers and trainers including 14 corporate members of IOSH. Within the team there is a diverse mix of backgrounds, skills and experience, and the recognition of the importance of continuing professional development.

Our health and safety consultancy workload continues to expand, with several term commissions with major clients, the latest of which is already involving our staff in topics such as helicopter trips, motorcross, contaminated land, major hazards, and the stabilisation of historic structures.

We do not expect any of our staff to be experts in all of these subjects!!

Our success means that we need to fill additional posts by recruitment and internal development, eg via NVQs.

We are currently looking for regional H&S advisers for the South of England, and in the North/North East.

In the near future we anticipate needing to strengthen our capability in the Midlands and North West.

South – probably based at Croydon, London or Reading

North/North East – based at Newcastle or Wakefield

Midlands – probably based at Nottingham, Derby or Birmingham

North West – probably based at Manchester or Preston

In each case the successful candidate can expect to become involved in a diverse range of projects, supporting both Babtie’s own staff and external clients.

Suitable candidates are likely to have reached at least TechSP status, or be close to attaining this, and may come from a wide range of backgrounds, possibly with H&S as a second career.

Taking into account our current consultancy caseload, experience of development and delivery of H&S training and/or of the construction industry would be an advantage, but may not be requisite for all positions.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please send your CV to me

preferably by email to

peter.gotch@babtie.com

or by post to Babtie Group Ltd., 95 Bothwell Street, Glasgow G2 7HX

If you have previously responded to our ads in the press or my previous postings on this forum, there is no need to reapply.

Hi All,

Anticipating new opportunity opening up in North of Scotland within the next month, based probably in Perthshire or Inverness area.

Remit: Challenging role to provide full advisory service including lots of construction site inspections - varying size projects - input into CDM issues, procuring/developing and delivering H&S training, support in incident investigation, claims etc. A client who recognises that they are by no means squeaky clean!

Person spec: Almost certainly MIOSH with construction/utilities experience. Experience of H&S training desirable.

Ideally: self-starter capable of dealing with strategic issues and the coal face, with minimal supervision. Capable of communicating at all levels and with the skills to influence at Board level.

If interested please send me your CV by email to peter.gotch@babtie.com
