Posted By Alan Pym FAULT FINDING ON MACHINES WITH POWER ON There are times when energy sources need to be present when fault finding on production line equipment. Has any one got a written policy/procedure on what steps that need to be taken to reduce the risk. Eg: errect barriers around testing area, only authorised persons are to overide control panel door interlocks. This is not an easy one to fix, but it is the real world.

Posted By Ken Taylor I believe an informed judgement has to be made on each specific need for live working. We would expect compliance with The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (Particularly Reg 14) and the Memorandum of Guidance (HSR 25). The new HSE CD 'Essentials of Electrical Safety' also has some guidance on this.
