We could use some help with the following:
A recently inspected Community Centre was found to be heavily infected with Serpula lacrymans (Dry rot) spores.
1. To what extent are spores injurous/ prejudicial to health?
2. Are there any threshold limits above which problems are known to occur?
3. Are those with a pre-disposition to respiratory probs., immuno-compromised and children at significantly increased risk?
The material found so far in tenuous!

The effects of mold in buildings on occupants' health is a big concern in the States - and a web search will generate quite a lot of alarmist material. Mold testing and abatement is big business over there.

That said, S. lacrymans is a cause of Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) (or extrinsic allergic alveolitis.)

Here's a link to a site that offers (IMHO) quite a sensible and measured response to the mold issue.
