Posted By Brian Houghton I am looking at a situation where plumbers (some employed, some self-employed) use a blowtorch connected to a propane bottle and transport the equipment in the back of their car or van. Are there issues here with regard to Transport Regulations? Should they display a sign on their vehicle? Should they carry a Tremcard or similar? Any advice or pointers towards the answers would be most welcome. Thanks.

Posted By Ian D The regulations you refer to do not apply in your circumstance if: a)The individual container does not exceed 10 kg/ltr b) the total mass of dangerous goods on the vehicle does not exceed 200 kg/ltr then the tremcard and driver training does not apply They are exept under limited quantites Just apply common sence, ensure the cylinder is secured int he upright position and seperated from an other flammable material.

Posted By Colin Reed Hello Brian old mate!! Ian is about right, though I suggest you also advise that the blowtorch regulator or connection be disconnected from the gas bottle and the valve closed off tightly. Thus removing the potential weak point and leakage area should the seal be broken by whatever means or occurrence. Call me at your leisure< Regards Colin
