Posted By Peter Rees Has anyone else noticed the difference in quality of MSDS that suppliers generate? I am currently reviewing our substance data prior to carrying out relevant COSHH assessments. So far only about 5% of our suppliers show any knowledge of the Risk and Safety phrases, and only about 50% of the suppliers give information in all 16 MSDS sections. Has anyone any (polite) responses as to why MSDS information is not provided more adequately?

Posted By Alison Dando Salvation may or may be not at hand. The HSC has published a consultative document proposals for new CHIP Regs. 2002 which should result in a package of proposals to change the ACOP in relation to safety data sheets so that their accuracy, reliability and usefulness is better. E.G. In regards to PPE glove fabric, breakthough times any additional hand protection measures have to be specified and specified RPE also has to be incorporated into safety data sheets. Perhaps if you download/acquire a copy of this document, the days of incomplete or misleading information may be coming to an end! Website is http://www.hse.gov.uk/hse/condocs/

Posted By Ashley Williams Just a word of warning regarding the CHIP 3 consultative document, dont try to down load a copy as its as thick as a phone book! Some nice person at the HSE posted me two copies for some strange reason, when they arrived i though someone had pushed a brick though the letter box they made such a bang.
