I am looking for information on the Health Effects of Carbon Fibre Dusts. The only information I can find that the HSE has published is EH21 which dates back to 1979. Can someone please point me in the direction of some more recent information?

Thanks

Karen

It might be worth checking with WHO. Environmental Health Criteria 151 "Selected Organic Fibres" 1993 makes reference to Carbon Fibres.

If you e-mail me (click on my name in blue above) I can send you a copy of a recent research paper published in the Journal of Occupational Health.

There is an emerging body of evidence of harmful effects, particularly when exposed to dust from carbon fibre which has suffered fire. Whether due to the fibres themselves, or to their tendency to coat themselves with just about anything they come into contact with is not clear. The RAF crash teams first had problems with serious and often septic skin rashes about 10 years ago. A website

http://www.fire.org.uk/a...tion/papers/101991-6.htm refers.
