Like everyone else my firm provides various notices for use on site, Health & Safety Law, COSSH regs, Copy of Insurance certificate etc.

This is fine on fixed sites or ones of some duration. So what about transient sites?

In the rail industry sites are typically set up for a single shift so working out of the van is common.

Do such sites require such information to be provided there or can reference to notice boards at depots or other locations suffice. Persons working in such sites may not book on at a depot, being moved straight to the site.

David,
Have you considered putting such information (plus any other general health and safety info including company instructions / policies etc) into a health and safety handbook and issuing it to all employees who carry out site work?
Asking for a signature for it and keeping this in an individuals personal file helps to keeps records of issue.
Hope this helps,
Frank Cooper

David,

I work for an electricity company, and many of our staff work (and live) out of their vans. We do a similar thing to Frank's suggestion and give out a company handbook (document controlled) containing h&s policy, safety instructions, h&s law leaflet etc. The H&S law poster is available in A5 size from HSE. We also put certain information in primary substations, so that employees know where to find it.

Regards,

Nick
