Do any members know whether the "revitalising Health & Safety" theme is being discussed at branch meetings, seminars etc.

The reason I ask is that we are doing a project based on revitalising, and working well together, and are aware of one local authority & HSE office who have conducted a free training seminar in order to raise awareness for contractors.

Anybody out there know of any others???

Are we as professionals the only ones doing this? I get the impression that the higher echelons of the enforcing authorities and certainly the Government have decided to lower their priorities. Based on the lack of new legislation and various comments in the press.

Technical Affairs maintain a 'map' of things IOSH has done in response to each of the RHS & SH2 Action Steps. That may not capture everything at Branch level, but it does show that as a body we are strong supporters. Some of the actions were in hand anyway, some were initiated in response to the programmes.

As Richard Jones has lots to do, I suggest you don't ask for a copy unless you have a real need for it.

Some of the more public actions are:
- Alignment with RHS & SH2 in the IOSH Strategic Plan, issued to members autumn 2000;
- Publication of 'Professionals in Partnership' and 'Global Best Practices in Contractor Management', autumn 2001;
- Seminars on Work at Height, 2001 & 2002;
- IOSH members on every SH2 Programme Action Group;
- Chairing a session at HSC seminar for UK large organisations, May 2002, including launch of IOSH guidance on public reporting of OSH results.

These a just a few highlights, from memory. For those who may not have seen them, copies of the guidance can be downloaded from the 'Technical Information' webpage.
