Posted By Glyn Atkinson Good morning to all, This morning, my H&S assistant reluctantly handed in his notice and is moving on to a higher management post in the area with a different manufacturing company at a higher rate of pay, so...... There will be a vacancy appearing soon in the Hull Daily Mail and possibly also in the Grimsby and Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph newspapers for a Health and Safety Assistant working within a woodworking and leisure industry manufacturing environment. (Luxury static home manufacture) NEBOSH General Certificate is the exact qualification being considered for this role. I am unable to post any details on salary as yet, sorry, as this is now under discussion at HR and Director level... money being one factor in my chap moving on. All I would positively offer is a great learning opportunity, I have taken on three new starters to H&S previously, and they all attained NVQ 3 whilst in this employ before moving on to better jobs locally. I will guarantee personally that the person who is taken on will receive quality IOSH standard training, and will be given every opportunity to develop to their highest potential. Whether they stay the course here or move on to higher things will depend on their enthusiasm and work rate while in the job, but no one has failed to improve their job prospects yet. Hopefully this is what some of the North East forum members could be looking out for, so watch out for the newspaper advertisements - it will not go to agencies or H&S job sites, and I will be part of any interviewing process. If anyone wishes to obtain further information informally, (no c/v's please, they will go in solely through the advert to our HR department for vetting,) Please pm me at gatkinson@whh.co.uk - company e mail address, and I will willingly give you a contact phone number for a quick chat about the role, conditions etc before you consider applying. Good job it's not July yet, isn't it ??

Posted By Glyn Atkinson Can I just please re-confirm that C/V's are not being requested at this stage. Replies should be made to the job advertisements that will be in local press newspapers next week. Enquiries about the job should be made via the e mail contact above , and as with several people yesterday, I will phone you back if you miss me when calling. Lastly, NO, I cannot give any true indication of the salary, but the strict NEBOSH Gen cert level only requirement should give an insight that ex-managers, advisors, consultants would not be happy with the renumeration. I am attempting to give someone a good start with some quality learning thrown in. There is no re-location package within the description. Travelling expenses to work are covered by the employee. 39 hour week, no overtime paid - lieu time to be taken if necessary. Hope that clears up the common questions, thanks for reading the thread.

Posted By Glyn Atkinson Just a quick update - the advert is in the Hull Daily Mail this week on Wednesday as a start, and depending on responses may go further afield next week. Comments to all who have so far contacted me for informal details - I am being as frank and honest in my appraisal of job, conditions and chances of career progression through further learning as a part of the job. I look forward to receiving replies to the advert over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your interest.

Posted By Glyn Atkinson From an e mail received today - For anyone NOT in the Hull Daily Mail catchment area:- Health and Safety advisor vacancy. Working as a part of a small H&S team, we are looking for an individual who can demonstrate a good level of competency in the field of Health and Safety, and who possesses the NEBOSH General certificate as a minimum. Familiarity with ISO or BSI quality standards and environmental standards would be an advantage. To apply - please send a C/V and covering letter to : - Mr Mano Jamieson, HR Manager, Willerby Holiday Homes Ltd., Imperial House, 1251, Hedon Road, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU9 5NA. Best of luck to all those currently interested. The role will report directly to me as Safety Manager, and I will be part of the interviewing procedure, as stated previously.
