Posted By SAFE T I've been with my current employer for 25 years and held various managerial positions with increasing H&S responsibilities: Mechanical Engineer, Process Manager and for the last 14 months H&S Manager with responsibiities across 3 sites. I have a real burning passion for all things H&S and are proud of the progress we have made across the 3 sites with which i have an influence. However i have made the decision to resign from the company due to my current boss being old school in his approach; controlling, un-approachable, moody, a bully and arrogant to name a few. I work alongside 3 other H&S Managers who feel the same.
Any advice, i love my role in H&S and feel a change now will fuel my passion.

Posted By Catherine Ince Hmm, difficult situation this. I've recently had a similar problem in an organisation where I worked for almost 12 years. I felt I had no choice when all the education in the world could not persuade the boss of the "error of their ways". So, I found a new job and left.
It was frightening - the thought of having to start again after all that time and get to know a new organisation.
I haven't looked back. It's a new environment and a chance to develop my knowledge and skills (thinking CPD all the time!). The people are great as well.
I can't advise you what to do, but just wanted to say it can be the best move you make.
All the best, whatever your decision.
