Hi there, if anyone has any information about finding work in our profession in Canada, then I would be really interested to have an informal chat with you. If so, perhaps you could drop me your e-mail and we could take it from there.

Alternatively, I would be happy to receive any relevant information through the forum such as - useful websites, contacts, Canadian organisations who may be willing to sponsor an experienced and energised CMIOSH with an MBA.

Much appreciated

RR

I think you shouldn't have a problem working in Canada. However, you should first try and check out the immigration laws to see if you qualify for a resident visa. Canada is seeking qualified professionals and HSE is highly controlled in Canada especially in the Oil & Gas production companies. Look at Canadian Nexen and other companies.

RR,

I’m a Canadian OH&S professional based in Toronto. Please contact me via email and I’d be happy to provide insight and suggestions.

In return, maybe you can help me. I’m a new IOSH member (Graduate) and plan to progress to CMIOSH based on the reciprocal agreement between IOSH and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (USA). I have reviewed the IOSH publication, "Chartered Membership – Your Guide to the Open Assessment", but I’d appreciate candid insight regarding what I can really expect during the Open Assessment and the Professional Review Interview; and how best to prepare.
