Posted By Jerry Hill I am trying to put together a 'brief' employee handbook for a company who occasionally send staff onto offshore oil platforms to undertake performance testing of turbines etc. The company already ensures that all staff are trained by OPITO in The Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training Certificate. I have copies of a variety of Offshore Drilling Companies Safety booklets, but these obviously apply specific rules to specific platforms. What I am looking for, is to be able to provide general guidance applicable to platforms in general. Any ideas or am I trying to over-simplify something that shouldn't be over-simplified?

Posted By Stuart Nagle Jerry. I think if access is via helicopter, all persons have to be trained in helo-down drills and basic sea survival. The fire service college specialise in fire training for off-shore rigs and have a wealth of knowledge on off-shore safety. I suggest you contact the 'Enterprise Centre' at the College for more info. Regards... Stuart Nagle
