Posted By Charles New I am no expert however I think that the risk from rain is likely to be minimal. The risk, however, from stored rain water will be higher and be dependant on the method of storage (covered or uncovered tank), and the conditions of storage. (ie temperature range). The level of risk will also depend on what the water is used for - watering the garden the risk will be low, for showering under the risk will be higher. I also think that the hazards presented by cryptosporidium and possibly e-coli 0157 should also be considered if the tanks are uncovered and if the water is to be used for personal hygiene purposes.
