Posted By Robert K Lewis I have got to put my environmental hat on here! 1) Scalpings, ie shredded Tarmac is a valuable resource on construction sites for temporary hard standings and can be reused if a geotextile memebrane is placed beneath it. Get you contractor to identify its use or destination for use by others. 2) Minimise the amount removed by ensuring your designers and contractors are assessing what materials may be crushed and re-used, preferably on site, if practicable with regards to dust and noise control of the crusher. 3) The less that is taken off site the fewer vehicle journies and thus less risk to safety and environment. 4) Ensure recycle or re-use by others as options before accepting landfill solutions.
