Posted By Sean Fraser Richard, A couple of websites to try for some inspiration: http://www.makesafetyfun.com/ - free info (US based) http://www.safteng.net/ - free info and photos (US Based) http://www.agius.com/hew/links/ - links to general H&S sites (UK based) and not forgetting - http://www.hse.gov.uk/ It all depends on what you intend for the day - one-off, an introduction to a series of events, annual event etc. etc. It also depends on how big your organisation is - small company, large company, single site or multi-site, one location or national and even international? Also, what is the intention behind it? Is it to introduce a new policy manual or development of a management system, or to support an existing one? Is it to bring a general awareness of safety at work and home, or are there certain issues that could be focussed on that would result in specific benefits to current working practices? Would it benefit from having local safety providers bringing stands to promote products/services and invite other companies to attend (a mini exhibition)? Would inspirational speakers be helpful (a mini-seminar)? If you give more general info on your company and what you intend to achieve then someone here is bound to be able to give more helpful advice than I can!

Posted By Richard Holtom I work for a very large international distribution company the site i look after has around 220 employes we have a very good safety record but i wish to build on it. I need to involve all areas of the work force but the usual responce when talking to them is very negative hence the idea to do a awareness day which could promote safety and health Whilst putting it over in a fun way with perhaps competions or quizzes. The idea of invovling other companies i like and i would like this to become a annual thing. Thanx.

Posted By Carl Wignell I recall doing something similar a few years ago. We took the approach of hazard spotting and everyone that spotted a potential problem received a gift (pen, torch etc..) that carried a corporate safety slogan. This seemed to motivate employees to take an interest in H&S issues for the duration of the exercise.
