Posted By Martyn Hilditch Does anyone have any thoughts on the main hazards associated with the use of oxyactylene torches being used from inside an asbestos removal enclosure. Would there be a displacement of oxygen for example?

Posted By Danny Swygart We prefer to use "cold cutting" methods wherever possible in our asbestos facility as the fumes given off during oxy-gas cutting can affect the filters, the results of air monitoring, dry out any asbestos that has been wetted and sealed and increase and blow about any fibres in the air. We don't use air tools for some of the same reasons. Danny.

Posted By Tony Birchall It may be wise to get access to portable gas detection equipment for inside and outside the enclosure. Inspections a little while after the work has ceased also, ie don't run off site thinking that air monitoring is the only thing you need to do.
