We have installed a few cameras in work and placed signs on reception etc. to state that persons may be filmed for security reasons. The problem we have is can the tapes of any wrongdoing ie stealing etc be used against a thief. Also do the staff need to sign any document to agree to the CCTV or is it alright to just film. The cameras are situated in 2 corridors and 2 reception areas. Thank you in advance for any information recieved. Dave

Posted By Michael Webb Dave, We sought our advice from our CCTV maintenance company. We have the tapes (enough for 1 per day for a month)stored in a lockable cabinet for which only certain staff have access. A log has to be completed each time a tape is put in the VCR or taken out, inc. time, date and signature. When taken out, the tape is returned to the cabinet & stays there for 31 days. After the complete cycle of tapes, the one due to be used next has to be erased (record this fact also) prior to installing in the machine. Also, our signs notifying the public ahve a contact number on them for queries. Hope this helps!
