Posted By John Watson Hi, hope you can help. We run a training company that does open courses, NEBOSH Cert, IOSH MS etc. I am looking to spread away from our Midlands base to two others, Reading and York are my preffered locations. As I do not know the areas it is difficult to shortlist quality affordable venues. If any of you have used good venues or could recommend training venues that would be great, I know I can pay £40 per day delegate rate but that just puts the course price up, which I want to avoid. Thanking you in advance.

Posted By J Knight At Leonard Cheshire we used the Bar Convent in York (it's not a hotel or pub, it is actually a Convent) for our regional team meetings. It's about 10 minutes walk from the station (5 for me but I walk very fast) and has fantastic home made biscuits, as well as being a very beautiful building. I don't know how much it costs, but can't imagine its too steep as LC is a Charity and our region didn't have a great deal of dosh to throw around. Their number is 01904 643 238 and a quick search under york convents threw up their website, have alook, John

Posted By Gilly Margrave Hi John, I have used the Priory Centre in York for conferences and they were very reasonable, well equiped and also good disabled access and close to the station. Gilly

Posted By J Knight Haven't used the Priory centre, we used the Beechwood to good effect, they are good, but for the bigger meetings (when the whole team, c 30 people was present) they didn't have the room, so we alternated with them and the Bar Convent, John

Posted By John Watson Again thanks for the feedback. I am in York for a conference in October so will detour via the beechwood to have a look. The room rate seems remarkably low, or is it per head? Are the buffets ok? Quality of buffets are the bain of my life!! Thanks John
